Hello Scott, my question might be a bit late. But do you still have the names for the Anki decks mentioned ? since the Link doesn’t work anymore. And did you have a separate Anki deck for reading, listening, production, and single characters?

Greetings from Swiss

It’s satisfying to say that I can now understand the interview completely, of course this is nowhere near two natives having conversation, but I can say my listening ability has improved immensely, (understanding TV is still very demoralizing though). As of now I have reached a decently large passive vocabulary of over 4,000 and have over 2,000 characters learned on Skritter (though I would say I’m more super familiar with something closer to 1,500). My speaking is getting better and better, however speaking opportunities for me aren’t very frequent besides having a tutor, so Scott was still way more fluent at 3 months. That just shows that if you want to get good at speaking nothing beats immersion, however massive amounts of input through reading and listening does pay off it just takes longer for things to click into place. I used to think getting to B1 in less than year would be insane but now being at that level now makes realize just how wide the gulf to getting to the advanced, and eventually native level is. Learning Chinese is a humbling experience to be sure, but the satisfaction that comes from learning it is incomparable.
