I’ve started learning Chinese sometime during the beginning of the pandemic. I didn’t really have any reason for starting, but, like you, I’d had a history of interest in martial arts as well as philosophy/spirituality. And, again like you, I’ve listened and/or read all of Alan Watts. At the time I picked up Chinese, I had practiced Zhan Zhuang 站桩 for some years already. So, after a while I thought “wouldn’t it be nice to be able to read some original literature on this?” And similarly, I’d like to find/read some books that resonate with the writing of Rupert Spira as I’m sure also exist in Chinese.

I love Alan Watts too! I’ve listened to everything I could find by him and I think he’s had a considerable impact on my way of thinking, too.

I was also inspired by Zen Buddhism so I started thinking about and reading up on Eastern philosophy and listened and read everything I could find by Alan Watts, who has had a great impact on the way I think.
