I haven’t actually studied this in depth, but I think it’s more a matter of different speakers than different syllables. Or at least the difference between speakers is bigger than that between syllables. Some people have a single i sound, others have a clear diphthong. I’ve settled on xing as the best syllable to check, but I have no scientific backing for this!

I can’t tell if ‘ing’ only has a vowel slide after certain consonants or all of them.
